Creating A Routine For Starting School

Now for me, I am a person who has to have a form of routine. With having such a long period of time out of College I have found it so hard to create a routine for myself and in all honesty my mental health has struggled due to this. As much as I have loved the free time. Personally, I cannot cope with it being 24/7 as I find it mentally tiring. So, I have put together a small list of things that I have personally used to create myself a routine for going back to college to ensure I am getting the most out of my time. This is so I feel so much more confident and much more myself. So I hope this helps!

1.Exercise

This for me is crucial when it comes to making a timetable that will be used for the long run. I have always struggled with exercise. This is because I always love doing it but if I get out of my routine then that is the routine ruined and I will mentally struggle to get back into it. So when I create a routine I try to make one that will be able to last for the rest of my time at college. This means that I will exercise five times a week and will alternate ways of exercising. I know how important it is to enjoy exercise and ensure that there are days where I have a break so I don't completely burn out. I know that when I am exercising I feel so much more energetic and lively so I know this is something that is crucial to include.

2. Food

I like to create a rough outline of foods I will be eating and how much I will be eating throughout the day. I also make sure that when I am in college I create versatile group of lunches so I don't get bored and steer towards unhealthy food (especially chocolate!). So I like to do lunches like pesto pasta and potato salads. This means I will feel like I have more energy and have more confidence as I am eating more brain happy food.

3.Sleep Routine.

This is so beyond crucial! This is because I have been working early mornings recently and when you have a late night you really feel why having good sleep is a good idea. Especially when you are starting to learn again your brain needs time to calm down and rest from a busy day so getting the right amount of sleep is needed. Make sure that you wind down before attempting to sleep so that you get the most out of it. Please, do not think it is best to stay up till 1 AM because if you want the most out of your education you need sleep. It will also help with your mental ability, emotions and hormones so you are more balanced and ready for the busy days.

4.Free time

This is well needed. You need time to do activities you love to do, this could be sport, reading, writing or anything you love. Leave at least one day to do this as then you will feel that you are fully motivated and rejuvenated. I used to love a Saturday and waking up whatever time I want. So I am ensuring that this year I also get my Saturday to myself. Make time to do what makes YOU happy as this will benefit all other aspects of your life.

5.Mental Health Improvement Routine

This is such an individual thing and its whatever makes you feel mentally relaxed and balanced. For me this is a face mask, tanning moisturiser, eyebrow shaping, shaving and romance films. My go to is The Twilight Saga . I just love it and it is so easy to watch. My go to face masks are the Garnier Moisture Bombs and their other sheet masks. They are amazing and they leave my skin glowing after it. I really love doing this and I try to do this once a week. Normally on a Sunday night so I start the next week fresh and ready. I also try and do a task I call self-appreciation. This is where I sit either with my boyfriend or opposite a mirror and I start off by saying things I have felt during that day and then further positive affirmations of myself outloud. This just allows me to review everything and allow me to express my emotions that I want to talk about. It contributes to my confidence as I am saying to myself what I am doing well. I would highly recommend doing this.

I hope this has helped you look at some crucial points that you can include in a new routine to help you feel motivated and organised for the new school year. Good luck to you all.
