My Favourite Lockdown Tasks

Writer's picture: Jessica-Jayne Jessica-Jayne

Lockdown can easily become boring and the same everyday. As we are staying inside to keep ourselves and others safe we can find ourselves not knowing where to turn to keep ourselves

entertained. Trust me I have had many days where I lie on the floor and stare at the ceiling not knowing what the hell to do with myself. But I have tried many ways to keep myself entertained so, I thought I would share them with you so you can enjoy what you can in lockdown 2021!

Play Games:

If you are in a shared house then you can sit down in the afternoons and enjoy a competitive game of Monopoly! I may have flipped the board when playing with my boyfriend but it made an enjoyable afternoon. It can be any game but it can help pass the time and also allow you to spend crucial time with those you live with. Here is a list of games that me and my boyfriend love to play:

  • Monopoly

  • Cluedo

  • Dobble

  • Cards (e.g. goldfish, spit and poker)

  • Rummikub

  • Twister

  • Guess Who

  • Cards Against Humanity

Exercise:

I have to mention it! It is just such as amazing way to let go off all the stresses that come with lockdown. I know it is something that can be harder to do as we have to find a way to do it in our own homes now but it is still achievable (even if it is bicep curls using two cartons of milk!), staying healthy during lockdown can make people feel very achieved. It shows determination as it can be so unbelievably tempting to stay in bed or on the sofa and binge watch your new favourite show. So, get on those trainers and work your hardest!

Create Change:

This can be taken in any kind of way it is up to you. But personally, I take it as there is something in my life I am not satisfied with and I either need to get rid of it or change it depending on what it is. For example, there are clothes I don't wear anymore so I can either get rid of them or turn them into cuter pieces. If there is something in life that feels unsatisfactory or is bugging you then change it because in a time where we have the most time, look at ways to self-improve. Self-improvement is always important in my eyes as then you know that you are being the best you!

Find A New Hobby:

With this one, it can be anything but don't just do it to say that is something you do. Do it cause you love it. For ages, I did rugby just to say I did it and I hated it. It won't last long if that is the case so make sure it is the thing for you. For ages I never thought I was good enough to sit in front of a screen and talk about the things that interest me. But, little did I know people enjoyed it as much as I did. It is my hobby 100%, I call it a hobby as currently I don't earn money from it and it brings out my creativity and constantly challenges me. Which in my mind is important for a long lasting hobby.

Movie Marathons:

This is my favourite task to do with my boyfriend in the evening after a very busy day. We are about to start watching the Conjuring Universe as we both love horror films and have not watched these in the correct order yet. If you would like to hear my review, let me know down below!! We love doing these as it creates that cinema sort of feel as we have snacks and cuddle up in blankets in the dark with just the TV on and it is so fun! So, I would highly recommend making this an evening treat after a productive day as it will feel like such a great reward.

Do A Huge Clean On A Room:

This could be your bedroom, kitchen or even that room where you stuff things you don't want to deal with yet! But it can really help with clearing the mind, and during these times that is what we really need, a clear mind. So, I would say put on your comfiest "don't care if they get stained" clothes cause it is about to be one dusty ride. I always get half through and feel like it isn't worth it but once it is done I always feel so together and refreshed.

I hope this has helped with getting out of those lockdown blues as we know we have all felt them. But I hope that these will keep you entertained at least for a little bit.

If you ever need my help feel free to pop me a message on here or my instagram (@jessica_jayne_blogs) and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Many thanks,

Jessica-Jayne xx
