Short introduction:
The Book is a romance that is about two people who are very different but have similarities that they don't want to acknowledge. They both love English Literature for starters. They start by hating each other due to them thinking the way the other lives is wrong. They over time both go through a lot and they end up forming a rollercoaster kind of relationship. It is such a torn-love that just ropes you in and you can't put it down. Then, finally there is a plot twist that just changes everything...

My Opinion:
Personally, I loved these books! From the get-go I just fell in love with the way the books were written and personally I was never a big reader, but I went through these books so fast. I read them three times through summer. They are the most romantic, hot and fiery book I have ever read. It was a huge step-up from some of the younger books that I had read before as you need to be maturer to be able to enjoy the heat within some of the chapters of the books. For me to read it three times really does mean it is a good book. The characters have such intricate lifes and both the main characters seem to intertwine so well. There are five books within this series and you can't just read one or two and leave it at that, you have to read them all! It is so easy to read them tho it's like running water. There is no effort needed as you cannot read fast enough. This is definitely a series I would recommend on reading when you are in your mid-teens as it isn't so hot you shouldn't read it but it is quite heated within some scenes. If you want to see some parts of the books I would recommend watching the film first, but this may change how you imagine the characters. I must admit there isn't loads of similarities between the two as they cannot put everything within a film that is included within a large book. Personally, this book helped me find my favourite quote, that I now can relate with towards my boyfriend as for me it just makes sense as I can understand it's deeper meaning. The quote is "whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same". It's just such a beautiful quote as it has a deeper meaning that looks into the way people souls can be so familiar when they are in love.
My Favourite parts:
Warning: This may give a few spoilers so if you want to go into the book completely fresh, skip this bit!
My first favourite part is when they fight during their lecture as it has such a large quantity of references from other classic English Literature books. Now, I loved English so to have this scene was amazing as it brought the quotes in, in an amazing way as there was raw passion between them that the characters in the books would of had. I also loved the relationship between Tessa and Karen as they are both so sweet and trying their hardest to have a relationship with Hardin (obviously in different ways) and they form the cutest relationship, especially when they bake together! I am not going to carry on cause I don't want to reveal to much.. ;)

How did this get me into reading?
I think you can tell from the photo above that they are quite creased from the amount of times I have picked up the books. I never thought I was someone who can just read a book within a day no problem as I always found it hard to concentrate on a book, but with this series I just fell in love and could never put it down, to the point it annoyed my family!! I cannot rave about this book enough. From there, I started to read more books that were similar and I found my love for English Literature to grow. I read The Hands maids Tale from Margaret Atwood. This was also a very clever book and was a great new read as it is very different from the way other books are written. I have now found myself reading more and more books and thinking I can really find myself within these stories and reading is a great escape from everything that is happening at the moment.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, if you have found this review to see whether the After books are for you, then go for it! It is totally worth a read and personally I wouldn't watch the film first as it may taint your vision when reading the books and that may change what your character would've been originally. But I really do think that it is worth the read. If you have read it, leave a comment of what you thought of it!
I know this was one of my shorter posts but I didn't want to reveal too much of the books. Thank you for reading.
Many thanks,
Jessica-Jayne.
